Ipswich Town Unveils New Kits for Premier League Return
Portman Road under the lights. That’s the image Ipswich Town have chosen to bottle for their return to Premier League life in 2026/27.
The club have unveiled new home and away kits that lean heavily into history, atmosphere and a sense of place, while also quietly signalling change behind the scenes.
Home shirt: nights under the Portman Road glare
Town’s new home strip is built around those evening kick-offs when the stadium hums and the floodlights cut through the Suffolk sky. The shirt carries an embossed graphic that tracks the pattern formed by the structure between the floodlights on both the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey Stands, running across the body of the design.
It’s still unmistakably Ipswich blue, but the detailing sharpens the look. A navy trim frames the neckline and sleeves. White side panels slice down the shirt and flow into a blue side trim on the white shorts, giving the kit a clean, modern line from shoulder to hem. The socks stay blue, finished with a white and blue turnover to tie the set together.
Away kit: a bold echo of the ‘Abbot Ale’ era
If the home kit leans into the present, the away strip nods straight back to the late nineties.
Town have revived the spirit of the 1996-98 cream and black ‘Abbot Ale’ away kit, but with a sharper edge. The new version swaps the old solid black vertical stripes for horizontal red and black bands on a cream base, delivering a more aggressive, contemporary pattern while keeping the nostalgia alive.
The club badge follows the theme, rendered in red and black just as it was on that late-nineties strip. Black shorts and black socks with a cream turnover complete a kit that feels unapologetically retro, yet ready-made for modern Premier League grounds.
Sponsors, suppliers and a looming change
Both home and away shirts carry the logo of main sponsor Halo across the chest. On the sleeve sits Ed Sheeran’s Play tour logo, continuing the high-profile local connection that has become part of Ipswich’s visual identity in recent seasons.
Umbro produce the kits for a fifth consecutive year, but this is the end of an era. Town are expected to switch suppliers next summer, with Nike strongly tipped to take over. A third kit will follow once the new campaign is underway, adding another chapter before that handover.
Launch day with a purpose
This wasn’t just a photoshoot and a shop opening.
Ipswich used the launch to push money back into the game at its roots, making a significant donation to support grassroots football across Suffolk. Every club in the county has been offered a grant towards their youth team kit for the new season, turning a commercial moment into a tangible boost for local pitches and changing rooms.
Representatives from around 40 clubs that have already taken up the offer were at Portman Road for the unveiling, joined by first-team players from both the men’s and women’s sides. It gave the event the feel of a county gathering rather than a closed, top-tier showcase.
On sale, in every size, across town
The full range is now available. Men’s, women’s and youth sizes are on sale, with children’s mini-kits also released. Adult sizes run from S through to 5XL, while the women’s fit spans size 8 to 20.
Planet Blue opens from 3.15pm to 8pm today, then 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, with the new shirts also available at the Halo Festival at Trinity Park on Saturday.
One detail will have to wait. Shirt printing for names from the men’s and women’s squads will not be available until the club confirm squad numbers.
For now, the stage is set: new lights, old echoes, and a fanbase ready to pull on Premier League colours once again.
