Inés García Santos Launches Online Campaign to Support Lamine Yamal for Ballon d'Or
Inés García Santos, the girlfriend of Lamine Yamal, has announced she will begin an online campaign advocating for the Barcelona star to win the Ballon d'Or. This comes despite Yamal himself saying he won't actively seek the award.
Yamal's Stance on the Ballon d'Or
After being nominated for the prestigious prize, Yamal explained in a recent interview that he believes his performance on the field should speak for itself. He said the final choice should be left to the journalists who decide the winner. This view seemed clear until a social media post from García Santos sparked fresh interest in his candidacy.
Girlfriend’s Social Media Campaign
Inés García Santos, known as a Spanish content creator, model, and influencer, took to her Instagram Stories while preparing for a photoshoot. Her message was direct and caught the public's eye: "My Ballon d'Or campaign starts now." Although Yamal is not pushing for the prize, García Santos appears determined to rally support online.
Yamal’s Impressive Achievements
The forward’s case is built on his remarkable on-field displays rather than social media efforts. During the 2025/26 season, he scored 24 goals and provided 17 assists for both club and country. His performances earned him the title of LaLiga Player of the Season for 2025/26.
Despite suffering a hamstring injury late in the season, Yamal was key in Spain's victorious 2026 World Cup campaign. He has carried his strong form into the new season, recently scoring in Barcelona's 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord.
