Hull City and West Ham Target Spurs Winger Solomon
Tottenham’s summer clear-out has found its next likely departure. Hull City have stepped up alongside West Ham United in the chase for winger Solomon, with Spurs ready to cash in on a player who never came close to establishing himself in north London.
The 27-year-old Israel international, valued at around £20m by Tottenham, is on a list of at least three players the club intend to move on before the window shuts, according to The i Paper. Early offers are expected to land somewhere between £10m and £20m, a gap that will test how serious Hull and West Ham really are.
A free transfer that never took off
Solomon arrived on a free from Fulham in 2023. On paper, it looked smart: a low-risk deal for a winger with European experience and the kind of direct running Spurs had often lacked.
In reality, it never got going.
He has made just five senior appearances for the club and has been shuttled out on loan to Leeds United, Villarreal and Fiorentina. Each spell brought minutes, but not enough impact to change his standing back at Tottenham.
There was a flicker of hope last summer. Thomas Frank, overseeing Spurs while they scoured the market for alternatives, briefly opened the door to a revival. That door has slammed shut again.
De Zerbi’s Spurs move on
Roberto De Zerbi used Solomon in pre-season, but those outings did little to alter the wider picture. The winger remains firmly outside the Italian’s plans for the 2026–27 campaign.
De Zerbi has made no secret of his desire to reshape the squad. During Spurs’ tour of New Zealand, he teased another “bomba” – a marquee attacking signing to round off a window already defined by big statements and big exits.
Two names sit high on that list for the wide forward role: Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, who would only be allowed to leave if Andoni Iraola finds a replacement, and Manchester City’s Savinho. Those are not depth options. They are starters. And they squeeze players like Solomon even further to the fringes.
A club in overhaul, not transition
This is not a gentle rebuild. It is a purge born of embarrassment.
Tottenham finished 17th last season, flirting with relegation in a campaign that shredded reputations and patience alike. The response has been ruthless. The wage structure has been reworked to accommodate headline arrivals such as Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have been snapped up on free transfers.
When a club tears up its salary framework, the message is clear: space must be created. Wages must come off the books. Squad slots must open.
Solomon is one of those pressure points.
Big names could follow him out
His departure may not be the last high-profile move before the season kicks off.
The i Paper reports that the ongoing clear-out could yet clear a path for captain Cristian Romero to join Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid before the campaign starts. In goal, Guglielmo Vicario’s possible return to Italy would hand Antonin Kinsky the chance to step up as No. 1, a bold call for a club trying to drag itself away from last year’s chaos.
These are not marginal tweaks. They are structural changes that reshape the spine and the dressing room hierarchy.
Hull, West Ham and a looming deadline
All of which brings the spotlight back to Solomon.
Negotiations over his exit are expected to move quickly and could be wrapped up in the coming days, with the Premier League season opener set for 21 August. Hull and West Ham are now locked in a test of financial nerve, each weighing how close they are willing to go to Spurs’ £20m asking price before tabling formal bids.
For Hull, it would be a statement of ambition. For West Ham, it would add another option in wide areas as they try to refresh an ageing attack.
Tottenham, for their part, want clarity. The winger’s future is one of several dominoes that need to fall before De Zerbi’s “bomba” can realistically arrive.
Next wave: Mikey Moore on the move again
Behind all this, another piece of the Spurs puzzle is already shifting.
Teenage prospect Mikey Moore, fresh from an eye-catching loan spell at Rangers, is preparing for another temporary move. FC Koln are among the Bundesliga clubs keen, while several Championship sides are also in the queue.
