Hull City Secure Sweden World Cup Star Elliot Stroud in £3.5m Deal
Hull City have confirmed the signing of Swedish international Elliot Stroud from Allsvenskan champions Mjallby, marking their seventh summer signing. The versatile 24-year-old has joined on a four-year contract with an option for an extra year, as the Tigers prepare for their Premier League return.
Transfer Details and Player Profile
The deal was completed for a reported fee of £3.5 million. Stroud impressed during his time at Mjallby, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists in 87 league appearances. He played a key role in Mjallby's success, helping them win the 2025 Allsvenskan title as well as the Svenska Cupen.
World Cup Experience and Ambitions
Stroud’s domestic achievements earned him a spot in Sweden's 2026 World Cup squad, where he featured in four matches as Sweden advanced to the round of 32. Speaking about his move, Stroud said on Hull City's official site, “I am super happy and super excited to get started here. When I first heard of the interest, it was the only thing I wanted to do. I have individual hopes to play at the highest level possible. When an opportunity like this comes, it's not something you take lightly. To do it here in Hull is an exciting opportunity.”
He added, “The World Cup was an amazing experience. To represent your country in a World Cup is the biggest honour you can have as a player. It was a dream of mine to play in the Premier League. I am super excited to get this opportunity and hopefully create something magical this season.”
New Faces at Hull and Upcoming Fixtures
Stroud joins a summer recruitment drive that includes signings such as Jack Butland, Oscar Zambrano, Matt Targett, Hidemasa Morita, Konstantinos Tzolakis, and Jens Hjerto-Dahl. The club may still add reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
Hull City will kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester United at the MKM Stadium on August 22, marking their first top-flight match since the 2016-17 season.
