Hannah Hampton Extends Contract with Chelsea as Goalkeeper
Chelsea have secured one of the most important signatures of their summer. Hannah Hampton, England’s first-choice goalkeeper and one of the standout players in the women’s game, has signed a new two-year deal in west London.
Her previous contract was due to expire at the end of this season. Losing her was never an option for a club determined to claw its way back after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign. The rebuild starts from the back, and Hampton is the cornerstone.

On the international stage, her rise has been just as sharp. Part of England’s Euro 2022-winning squad, she then helped drive the Lionesses to the 2023 Women’s World Cup final. The peak, so far, came last summer: a standout tournament as England claimed Euro 2025, with Hampton a commanding presence throughout.
Recognition followed. She lifted the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper at the Ballon d'Or awards last year, confirmation from the wider game of what Chelsea and England already knew.
For Hampton, this new contract is as much about belonging as it is about medals.
“I'm really happy,” she said. “Chelsea have always been my dream club to play for in England so to be able to extend for another two years is a proud moment.
“When I moved to London from the Midlands, it was my first time moving away from home and everyone at Chelsea made it feel like a home away from home and somewhere I have been able to grow, not only as a player, but as a person.
“I don't want that journey to stop and I want to continue to grow more and learn more as a person. I know there is so much more I can achieve and so much more, we as a team, can achieve.
“I am going to do everything I can to help Chelsea get back to being as successful as we have been in the past.”
That last line cuts to the heart of Chelsea’s summer. The club that once set the standard in England fell short in 2025-26. The response has been swift: lock in the core, reinforce the identity, and keep the leaders in the dressing room.
Hampton joins fellow England internationals Lucy Bronze and Aggie Beever-Jones in committing their futures to the club in recent weeks, a trio that gives Chelsea steel, experience and homegrown quality across the pitch.
For all three, the message is clear. The trophies already banked are not enough. The challenge now is to turn personal accolades and international glory into another era of domestic dominance in blue.
Chelsea have their goalkeeper. England have theirs too. The question is whether Hampton’s next two years in west London will be remembered as the period when she helped drag a wounded giant back to the top.
