Spain’s second star on the World Cup crest has barely had time to settle, and already one of its architects has changed something else: his hair.
Gavi, the relentless Barcelona midfielder who helped drive Spain to the 2026 World Cup title in the USA, Canada and Mexico, has followed through on a promise he made before a ball was even kicked. If Spain won the tournament, he said, he’d dye his hair pink.

A world title and a new look

Once the trophy was secured and the parades began to fade, he went straight from world champion to hairdresser’s chair.

Gavi’s hair, freshly shaved, lightened and then dyed a soft, light pink, dominated the frame. Underneath, a caption that summed it all up in six words: “A man who keeps his word.”
His hairdresser added the behind-the-scenes details of the transformation, confirming there was no hesitation. Gavi sat down, committed, and let the clippers and dye do their work. The look is bold, striking and impossible to ignore — just like his game.
Teammate Lamine Yamal reacted in the comments the way a dressing room usually does: with laughing and crying emojis, the universal language of football banter. The World Cup might be over, but the camaraderie clearly isn’t.
Back to Barça, with a different edge
The pink hair will not have long to remain a holiday curiosity. Gavi has only a few days of rest left before rejoining Barcelona’s pre-season camp. The Andalusian midfielder is due back on 12 August, alongside his Spain teammates, to start preparing for the new campaign.
He will walk into the training ground as a world champion, carrying the confidence of a player who has just conquered the biggest stage and the playful swagger of someone unafraid to put a bet on his own success — and then live with the consequences.
