Francisco Conceicao: The Perfect Winger for Manchester United's Rebuild
Michael Carrick has his eye on a winger who fits the modern Manchester United blueprint almost too neatly: Francisco Conceicao.
The Juventus and Portugal wide man has emerged as a serious target for Old Trafford, with an Italian report claiming Carrick is personally pushing for a deal in the summer of 2026. United’s co-owners, INEOS, are already deep into a rebuild, but this is not a scattergun chase. This is about profile, about edge, about adding something their current squad still lacks.
United’s rebuild sharpens its focus
Five signings are already through the door. Karl Darlow, Kit Margetson, Andrey Santos, Tynan Thompson and Youri Tielemans have given United fresh depth and, crucially, more control in key areas. The next phase is clear: one more midfielder and a striker to ease the burden on Benjamin Sesko.
Yet Carrick also wants a winger who can unpick tight games on his own. That’s where Conceicao comes in.

Juventus dig their heels in
There is, of course, a problem. Conceicao is tied to Juventus until 2030.
The Turin club are not treating this as an asset they can easily cash in on. Far from it. TuttoJuve report that Juventus want to keep him and have placed a starting price of at least €50m (£43m, $57.4m) on the winger, a fee that would secure them a healthy profit on the investment they made only a year ago.
“Anyone wishing to acquire Conceicao will have to make a very significant offer,” the outlet notes.
Internally, Juventus see that valuation as a statement as much as a price tag: it underlines how highly they rate the player and how little appetite there is to entertain cut‑price negotiations.
The stance is firm. Conceicao is viewed as fitting “perfectly” into Luciano Spalletti’s plans and is not on the list of players expected to leave Turin in this window. The message to United and any other suitors is blunt: only an offer so big it becomes impossible to ignore would bring Juventus to the table.
A battle of conviction and resources
For United, that sets up a familiar test. INEOS want to be aggressive but disciplined in the market, reshaping the squad without repeating past mistakes of overpaying in desperation. Yet elite, creative wingers in their early twenties, already proven in a top European league and under long contracts, do not come cheap.
If Carrick truly views Conceicao as the “perfect fit” for his project, this could become one of the defining transfer calls of the next phase at Old Trafford.
