Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Training with Jannik Sinner Ahead of His Comeback

The tennis world is buzzing as Jannik Sinner prepares for his comeback, expected to happen soon. After a knee injury sidelined him since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final, Sinner plans to make his return at the China Open in Beijing, where he holds the defending champion title.

Though sidelined, Sinner still sits atop the ATP rankings. However, his position as world number one faces a challenge from Alexander Zverev, whose recent US Open win has brought him within 2000 points of Sinner. Depending on upcoming results, Zverev could overtake him by season’s end.

Training Session with Flavio Cobolli in Monte Carlo

In preparation for his return, Sinner trained recently in Monte Carlo alongside fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, known for reaching the Roland Garros final this year, spoke about their practice in an interview with Super Tennis TV ahead of his participation at the Laver Cup in London representing Team Europe.

"We joked around a lot," said the 24-year-old Cobolli, who is enjoying the best season of his career in 2026. "It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I have the occasion, I try to get the most out of the hours we play together. He's one of the people who teaches me the most; I am always up for it when it comes to training with him."

Cobolli at the Laver Cup

This marks Cobolli's third consecutive appearance at the Laver Cup. He debuted in the tournament in 2024, the year Team Europe stopped Team World from achieving a three-peat. Although he will not play on the first day, the event kicks off with a doubles match featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik versus Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe is captained by Yannick Noah with Tim Henman as vice captain. On the other side, Andre Agassi leads Team World with Pat Rafter as vice captain.
