Donnarumma and Pregnant Partner Threatened During Home Invasion
In July 2023, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his then-pregnant partner, Alessia Elefante, endured a frightening home invasion. The incident occurred while they were asleep in their luxury apartment on Avenue Montaigne, Paris.
Details from Court Reveal Violent Encounter
New information from a Paris court hearing has shed light on the terrifying attack. The couple was reportedly assaulted, bound, and threatened with a knife by robbers who demanded valuables.
The attackers woke Donnarumma by whispering "shh" before hitting him in the face with a knuckle duster and brandishing a knife. They insisted, "The watches, the watches." Donnarumma pointed out an Audemars Piguet watch on the dressing table, known for its high value.
Elefante described how she was also attacked and commanded to hand over cash and jewelry. She gave them a Cartier watch, some jewelry, and about €2,000 in cash. When the intruders asked for the safe code, she said she did not know it and that the safe was empty.
"They got angry, thinking I was lying," Elefante said. "They pulled me by the hair, and one of them hit me on the thighs. I said I was pregnant, but they continued."
Donnarumma eventually gave the safe code, confirming the safe was empty. The robbers escaped with luxury handbags, cash, watches, and keys to a Mercedes and Lamborghini.
How the Robbery Unfolded
Police believe four men broke into the apartment by climbing onto the roof with a ladder, lowering themselves onto the balcony, and entering through a window. Two suspects already imprisoned, Ilyas Kherbouch (21) and Khyan Mamouni, are accused of planning the robbery from jail.
Kherbouch, who has over 11 prior convictions and briefly escaped custody in March, disrupted the trial by insulting and threatening officers.
Aftermath and Current Status
The couple, now married with a child, remains deeply shaken by the ordeal, according to their lawyers. Donnarumma was playing for Paris Saint-Germain at the time but is not expected to give testimony during the two-day hearing.
