David Raya Challenges Arsenal’s Rivals as Club Targets Champions League Glory After Premier League Triumph

David Raya, Arsenal’s goalkeeper, has made it clear that the club is aiming to establish a lasting legacy after breaking their 22-year Premier League title drought. The Spaniard insists the team’s ambition now extends beyond domestic success towards conquering Europe.

Arsenal Plans a New Era of Success

Following their historic league victory, Mikel Arteta and his squad are determined to prove this achievement is just the start of a prolonged period at the top. After two decades without the Premier League trophy, the focus is shifting firmly to the Champions League.

Despite falling short in last season’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, this loss has only intensified the team’s drive to claim their first European Cup while defending their domestic title aggressively.

Raya’s Vision for More Trophies

“We want to become winners, not just a one-off,” Raya said. “I think we’re going to have to attack the league again, attack the cups, attack the Champions League because we want more.”

He voiced strong confidence in Arsenal’s current squad, adding, “We want all the trophies, and we are confident that we can beat anybody at any time, so we just have to be focused on ourselves and do better than last season.”

Defensive Reinforcements Bolster Arsenal’s Strength

The team’s success last season was highlighted by five players – including Raya, Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes – making the PFA Team of the Year. Raya described the season as remarkable both individually and collectively.

“Every season is very, very long with ups and downs, but I think we dealt with everything thrown at us,” he said. “It was an incredible season to lift the trophy and give Arsenal the Premier League after 22 years.”

To maintain this momentum, Arsenal invested heavily in new signings: Bruno Guimaraes arrived from Newcastle for £75 million plus Christos Tzolis, while Ezri Konsa joined from Aston Villa for £55 million, strengthening what was already the league’s strongest defence.

Raya welcomed these additions, saying, “Ezri coming, adding to the squad, is going to add a lot of competitiveness inside the team, which is incredible and really good for the whole squad.”

Strong Start to Title Defense

The Gunners kicked off their campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Coventry, securing Raya’s first clean sheet of the season. Having earned his third consecutive Golden Glove last season with 19 shutouts, the goalkeeper is eager to extend his streak alongside elite company like Pepe Reina, Joe Hart, and Ederson.

“It’s not just me. I’ve always said the same, it’s collective stuff. Obviously, I’ve been part of it and it’s the third time consecutively, but we cannot stop there,” Raya said. “We want to do one more and another one because that makes it easier to win games when you keep those clean sheets.”

Big Tests Ahead for Arsenal

With critical matches coming up in both the Premier League and Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s refreshed squad faces the challenge of balancing multiple competitions. Integrating high-profile signings like Guimaraes and Konsa quickly will be key to sustaining their Premier League dominance and mounting a serious charge for European glory.
