Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez Confirm Marriage in Private Ceremony
Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he and longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez are now married. The Portuguese football star and the model exchanged vows in a private civil ceremony held on Tuesday in Cascais, Portugal.
The wedding marked exactly one year since they announced their engagement on Instagram in 2025. Their intimate ceremony was attended by their five children, blending family and celebration quietly away from public eyes.
Announcement Through Social Media
Ronaldo shared a heartfelt post on Instagram featuring a photo of the couple holding hands with their wedding rings visible. The caption read simply: C❤️G, signaling the official start of their married life together.
The ceremony came shortly after rumors swirled about a possible wedding at Funchal Cathedral, Ronaldo’s hometown, which had drawn thousands of fans hoping to catch a glimpse.
How They Met
Ronaldo and Rodríguez first crossed paths in 2016 when she worked at a Gucci store in Madrid. In her Netflix documentary Soy Georgina (I am Georgina), she described how she was meant to finish work early but stayed longer to assist a VIP customer—Ronaldo himself, then playing for Real Madrid.
"I was finally able to leave the shop to go home three hours later than I should have and as I was getting ready to leave Cristiano came in with his eldest son and some friends," Rodríguez recalled. "Let's just say it was butterflies in my stomach."
From that moment, they became inseparable. Ronaldo often picked her up from work in his Bugatti, a stark contrast to her usual bus ride home, causing quite a stir among her colleagues.
"He would come, I remember once, once in a Bugatti. My co-workers went crazy. They get there on the bus, and I would leave in a Bugatti. I mean people couldn't believe it," she said.
Rodríguez eventually had to leave her job due to the attention their relationship attracted, but she embraced a new role within Ronaldo's family, raising his three children from previous relationships alongside their two daughters, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda.
The Long-Awaited Ring
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, admitted in the documentary that he hadn’t proposed earlier because he was waiting for the right moment—the special "click" that made everything feel perfect.
"I always tell her, when we get that click. Like everything with our life, and she knows what I'm talking about," Ronaldo explained. "It could be in a year or it could be in six months or it could be in a month. I'm 1000 per cent sure that it'll happen."
Meanwhile, Rodríguez shared that friends often teased her about the wedding, referencing Jennifer Lopez’s song "The Ring" as a humorous reminder that the decision wasn’t solely hers.
Now that the day has arrived, the couple begins their married journey surrounded by family and love.
