Jamie Carragher Warns Liverpool About Transfer Priorities

Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool that their transfer priorities are badly skewed, insisting the club “desperately” need a genuine right winger rather than another option off the left.

With Liverpool exploring a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola, the former Reds defender made it clear he does not see the 21-year-old as any kind of answer to the looming Mohamed Salah question at Anfield.

The Blues have opened negotiations with PSG over Barcola, who is naturally more comfortable attacking from the left. That, for Carragher, is exactly the problem.

“No, he plays on the opposite flank!”

He then laid out the imbalance in Liverpool’s forward line as he sees it. On the left, he listed a crowded lane: “LFC currently have three players who could play from the left in Rio/Gakpo/Wirtz & no one who plays from the right.”

For a club bracing for life after Salah, Carragher’s message was blunt. The hole is on the right. And in his view, Liverpool cannot afford to get this one wrong.
