Cardiff City Target Jack Moylan After Breakout Season

Cardiff City are set to raid a promotion rival for one of last season’s standout performers, with midfielder Jack Moylan poised to join from Lincoln City.

The 24-year-old was at the heart of Lincoln’s surge out of League One. He scored 11 goals, laid on six more, and drove the Imps past Cardiff in the title race. Every time Lincoln needed a moment, Moylan seemed to find it – a late run into the box, a clipped pass, a finish under pressure. By the end of the campaign, he had become the symbol of their rise.

That form did not go unnoticed beyond club level. Moylan earned a first call-up to the Republic of Ireland and seized it with both hands, hitting a hat-trick on his debut in a 5-0 win over Grenada. One game, three goals, and suddenly a new name had forced its way into the national conversation.

Now he heads for a reunion of sorts. The former Bohemians and Shelbourne midfielder will link up with fellow Irishman Brian Barry-Murphy in the Welsh capital, adding another layer to Cardiff’s growing Irish influence. Barry-Murphy wants energy, invention and goals from midfield. Moylan arrives with recent proof he can provide all three.

He is set to become Cardiff’s second signing of the summer window after the capture of goalkeeper Nathan Trott in May, a deal that quietly addressed one end of the pitch. Moylan, by contrast, is a statement in the other direction – a creative force taken directly from a side that finished above them.

By then, Moylan is expected to be in Cardiff colours. The player who helped deny them a title last season could soon be central to their attempt to mount one of their own.
