Benjamin Sesko Reflects on Late Draw Against Everton Despite Scoring First Goal of Season

Benjamin Sesko expressed his disappointment after Manchester United conceded a stoppage-time equaliser to Everton, spoiling what had looked like a winning moment following his first goal of the season. The Slovenian striker came off the bench at Hill Dickinson Stadium and headed United into the lead in the 88th minute, only for Everton to level dramatically in the 96th minute.

Scoring Return from the Bench

Sesko, wearing number 30, marked his return from injury by scoring with a powerful header from Luke Shaw's precise cross. This put the Red Devils ahead 2-1 late in the match. Unfortunately for the visitors, Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck an outstanding goal deep into added time to deny them the victory and secure a 2-2 draw.

Frustration Over Last-Minute Concession

The forward admitted to feeling the sting of losing points so late in the game. Speaking to MUTV, he said:

"We're very disappointed because we were so close to winning. To concede a goal in the last minute is painful for everyone here. Everyone gave their all to try and get the win. When the result is decided by one final shot, it's tough to accept."

Encouraged by Progress After Fitness Challenges

Sesko's goal provided a boost after fitness problems limited his pre-season involvement. He emphasized focusing on the positives and looking ahead:

"For me, scoring is the best feeling, especially for a club like this. Providing goals and points is my job. It's great to be back with the team and playing again. Of course, I wish we had won today, but that can't be changed. We have to take the positive side, learn from it, and focus on improving for the next match."

Looking Forward to European Action

After substitute appearances against Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Everton, Sesko aims to earn a full start as he regains sharpness. Michael Carrick and his squad will soon shift attention to the Champions League, hosting Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK at Old Trafford on Thursday night, kicking off their European campaign.
