Arsenal Targets Bradley Barcola as Vinicius Deal Slips Away
Arsenal’s summer plan is starting to bend to reality. The dream of prising Vinicius Junior away from Real Madrid is slipping, and with it comes a sharp change of direction: eyes now fixed on Paris and Bradley Barcola.

For months, Vinicius has hovered on the edge of the rumour mill. His current deal at the Bernabéu runs out next summer, and that alone was enough to tempt clubs into circling, Arsenal among them.
That window is closing fast.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid are now in the final stages of agreeing a new long-term contract with the Brazilian. Positive talks have pushed the negotiations towards a verbal agreement, with only minor details left before the club give the green light. José Mourinho is also said to be pushing internally for Vinicius to stay, reinforcing Madrid’s stance that their star winger is not leaving.
For Arsenal, that changes the landscape. Vinicius was never going to be an easy signing. Now he looks an almost impossible one.
Barcola becomes the Plan B – at a premium
With the Vinicius route effectively blocked, Arsenal are preparing to pivot towards Bradley Barcola, the Paris Saint-Germain forward whose stock has risen sharply.
Barcola, a France international who impressed on the biggest stage at the 2026 World Cup, has refused multiple contract extension offers from PSG. That resistance has not gone unnoticed. It has invited serious interest from across Europe, and Liverpool have already stepped forward.
According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are in active negotiations with PSG over a deal for Barcola and are currently seen as the frontrunners for his signature. They moved early, they are at the table, and they have made their intentions clear.
Arsenal are considering crashing that party.
To do it, they will have to pay. PSG have set a price in the region of KSh 23.6 billion (£140m). Any attempt by Arsenal to hijack Liverpool’s move means matching that valuation, with no sign that the French champions are in the mood to compromise on one of their most valuable assets.
The fee is eye-watering. The market, though, has already shown that elite wide forwards come at a premium. If Arsenal truly believe Barcola can transform their attack, they know the cost.
Liverpool lead, Arsenal lurking
The dynamics are clear. Liverpool hold the advantage in the chase for Barcola. They are already in talks with PSG and have positioned themselves as the primary destination should the winger finally push for the exit.
