Andres Iniesta Begins Managerial Career with Gulf United FC in UAE
Andres Iniesta, the legendary Spanish midfielder and former Barcelona star, is about to start his managerial career. He takes charge of Gulf United FC in the UAE First Division, marking a new chapter for the 42-year-old football icon.
From Player to Coach
After retiring from professional play in the Middle East two years ago with Emirates Club, Iniesta earned his UEFA A licence. Now, he has stepped into management with Gulf United, a club based in Dubai that has quickly grown since its 2019 founding. Iniesta began leading the team in June while working toward his UEFA Pro Licence.
Prepared for the Challenge
The former Barcelona maestro shared his excitement about the upcoming season opener at the New Dibba Stadium. He emphasized the team's clear tactical style developed over weeks of training. Iniesta said, "We are really looking forward to Friday. We have been working with the team for several weeks on a clear style of play, and now it is time to compete."
A Youth-Focused Vision
Gulf United FC stands out in the division thanks to its young squad and progressive approach. The club has achieved two promotions since 2019, focusing on developing talent as much as winning matches. This philosophy fits well with Iniesta's own emphasis on individual growth alongside team success. Far from Europe's limelight, the four-time Champions League winner is determined to build his coaching reputation by nurturing young players.
Opening Test Against Tough Opponents
Iniesta’s first official match pits Gulf United against Dibba Al Fujairah, a recently relegated side known for aiming to return quickly to the top tier. This game will show how well Iniesta’s tactics hold up under pressure and whether his youthful squad can deliver consistent performances. Early results will be key for Gulf United’s hopes of another promotion.
