Yet, his time so far has seen him play only three league games, totaling just 31 minutes on the pitch. Over the last four matches across all competitions, he has remained on the bench.
Comparisons to Harvey Elliott's Experience
His situation is drawing parallels with Harvey Elliott’s similar loan deal to Villa in 2025. Elliott featured just nine times throughout the season because manager Unai Emery was reluctant to trigger the permanent transfer clause. Emery later revealed the club had already decided not to sign Elliott permanently, explaining that playing him would have forced them to complete the purchase, which they were not convinced about financially.
