Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Move: A Fresh Start in the Netherlands

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a move to Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder set to sign an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old, a free agent since leaving Spurs in June, is in Amsterdam to finalise the switch and complete a return to top-flight football in the Netherlands. The agreement is understood to include an option for Ajax to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

For the Mali international, it marks a fresh chapter after a turbulent end to his time in north London. Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 in a high-profile move and went on to make 111 appearances for the club.

His Spurs career, though, lost momentum. In August 2025, then head coach Thomas Frank omitted him from the squad to face Paris St-Germain in the Uefa Super Cup, citing persistent lateness as the reason for his exclusion.

Now Ajax are offering him a reset: a short-term deal, a clear structure, and one of Europe’s most demanding midfields to anchor. What Bissouma does with that platform could define the final prime years of his career.
