World Cup Stars Likely to Transfer This Summer

As the World Cup nears its conclusion, eyes turn to the upcoming 2026-27 club season and the potential transfers that could shake up teams worldwide. Some prominent players have already secured moves—Marc Cucurella, Elliot Anderson, and Youri Tielemans among them—but plenty more high-profile transfers are expected, many influenced by performances in North America.

Bradley Barcola

French forward Bradley Barcola has been a key part of France's attack, holding his own alongside stars like Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele. Featuring in all seven of France's matches with four starts, Barcola scored twice—against Senegal and Sweden. At 23, he celebrated another Champions League title with PSG but often plays behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia under Luis Enrique. Interest from top Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal suggests a move might be on the horizon.

Ayyoub Bouaddi

Just 18, Ayyoub Bouaddi impressed as Morocco’s midfield orchestrator during their quarter-final run. His control and composure stand out against much older opponents, as seen in the draw with Brazil. Lille, his current club, is expected to fend off multiple offers this summer. Big names such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG have reportedly shown interest in this teenage talent.

Yan Diomande

At 19, Ivorian winger Yan Diomande made waves despite Ivory Coast’s early exit. Named player of the match against Ecuador and praised for his effort versus Germany, Diomande is admired for his versatility on both wings. Liverpool has long pursued him but failed to meet Leipzig’s valuation of around £100 million. PSG and Manchester United are also linked, with Diomande reportedly keen to join the French side.

Djed Spence

Djed Spence, England’s full-back, played through injury and intense pressure during the tournament. Although criticized in one game, his strong performances against Norway and Argentina caught attention. Tottenham, amid a squad overhaul, could sell him this summer. Liverpool, Everton, and Inter Milan are reportedly interested in acquiring the former Middlesbrough defender.

John Stones

Centre-back John Stones made history by representing England at a World Cup without being attached to a club, following his departure from Manchester City. Juventus and Inter Milan from Italy have expressed interest, while Leeds United wants to keep him in the Premier League. Inter Milan also admire Spence, adding to their transfer ambitions.

Antonee Robinson

Antonee Robinson, though representing the USA internationally, grew up in England and has played there throughout his career. The Fulham left-back was crucial in the US run to the last 16, starting most matches and playing full games regularly. His Premier League performances have drawn interest from Manchester United this summer.

Julian Alvarez

Julian Alvarez helped Argentina reach the semi-finals and has been flourishing at Atletico Madrid since moving from Manchester City in 2024. Atletico is determined to keep their 26-year-old striker, who has scored 25 goals in 66 league appearances, turning away Barcelona’s advances. Still, clubs including Premier League champions Arsenal have been linked with a possible transfer.

Mikel Oyarzabal

Once considered a weak link in Spain’s attack, 29-year-old Mikel Oyarzabal proved his worth by scoring five goals at the World Cup, including a penalty against France. He remains at Real Sociedad where a £65 million release clause exists. Arsenal, Barcelona, and Juventus have shown interest, although it’s unclear if Oyarzabal will leave the club he has loyally served.

Zion Suzuki

Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki stood out despite Japan’s early exit. His fingertip save against Brazil’s Vinicius Junior is among the tournament’s best moments. Newcastle have monitored Suzuki, but England’s James Trafford remains their primary target. Leeds United has also been linked with the Parma goalkeeper.

The World Cup may be ending, but the buzz around transfers, fueled by standout performances, is only beginning.
