Valencia Negotiates Loan for Harvey Elliott from Liverpool

Valencia are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to add creativity without breaking their budget.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, struggled to make a real impact in the Premier League, starting just one league game. Now, with minutes hard to come by at Anfield, another temporary move is back on the table.

Valencia finished ninth in La Liga last season and missed out on European football, a gap in quality and profile they are trying to close carefully rather than expensively. They have been working on a deal structure that would allow them to bring Elliott in while keeping their wage bill under control.

A key part of the negotiations centres on salary. Valencia want Liverpool to pay around half of Elliott’s wages to make the move viable, a familiar compromise in modern loan deals but one that still needs sign-off from all sides.

Elliott had looked firmly in the frame during pre-season, featuring regularly under new head coach Andoni Iraola and appearing to fit the high-energy style. Once the real stuff started, though, his situation shifted. He has been left out of Liverpool’s first two Premier League matchday squads, a clear signal that his short-term future may lie elsewhere.

Time now adds its own pressure. La Liga’s transfer window closes on Tuesday at 23:00 BST. If Valencia want Elliott in their midfield this season, and if Liverpool want him playing regular football rather than watching from the sidelines, the deal has to be nailed down fast.
