Christos Tzolis Ready to Compete as Arsenal Pursues Vinicius Jr Transfer

Arsenal’s new winger Christos Tzolis has sent a bold message to manager Mikel Arteta, declaring his readiness to fight for his place despite ongoing talks to sign Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior. The Greek international impressed early by scoring on his debut after joining from Club Brugge in a £34 million move.

Tzolis aims to cement his role on the left wing at the Emirates Stadium. Asked about the potential arrival of competition, he said, "I’m confident as a player, so I don’t focus on what the club might do in this position. I’m concentrating on improving and settling quickly because I have the chance to train with the team right from the start of the season, play friendly matches, and then official games."

"It’s an opportunity to play from the beginning, and I have to show what I bring to the team. I’m confident I’ll prove that in the upcoming matches," he added.

Arsenal Eyes Record-Breaking Vinicius Deal

While Tzolis works to establish himself, Arsenal is reportedly negotiating a deal for Vinicius Junior that could set a new Premier League transfer record. Arteta is said to be directly involved in discussions with the Brazilian winger, outlining his vision for the team. Real Madrid has placed a €150 million price tag on Vinicius.

The interest arises amid contract negotiations at the Bernabeu, with Real Madrid willing to sell the 26-year-old rather than risk losing him later for less. Arteta has remained tight-lipped about the rumors but confirmed the club is active in the transfer market.

Tzolis Impresses in Arsenal Debut

Tzolis marked his first appearance for Arsenal by scoring in a 4-1 win over Girona. Arteta praised the new signing’s quick adaptation and chemistry with teammates.

"I’m very pleased with him. First, how well he’s adapted to the club and team," Arteta said on the club’s official site. "He’s already built a strong connection with the boys. I think fans will love him. He’s very direct with the ball and excellent at linking up play."

"He shares many qualities with Leo [Trossard], including the spaces he occupies and his work ethic. He’s hungry and eager to prove himself. It’s a dream for him, and we’re here to support that," Arteta added.

Tzolis Seeks Growth at Arsenal After Norwich Experience

For Tzolis, this move is a second shot at Premier League success following his debut with Norwich City in 2021 against Arsenal. He understands the challenge but believes Arsenal is the ideal place to develop further.

"It’s a fantastic chance to be part of a top-level team, one of the best in the world," he said. "That motivates me to improve even more. I feel this club will help me reach my highest potential."

He concluded, "I’m more prepared now for the Premier League. After my time at Norwich, I’ve grown and improved significantly. I’m not the same player I was then. It’s my moment to show I’m ready and capable of competing at this level."
