Tottenham Signs Sávio for £75m from Manchester City

Tottenham have made their biggest move of the summer, sealing the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth £75m, with a further £10m potentially due in add-ons. At his new club, the 22-year-old will go by Sávio – and he arrives with expectations to match the price tag.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said after the move was confirmed. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”

The wait, and the build‑up, only underline how central Spurs see him to their next phase.

Roberto De Zerbi did little to play down that idea. The head coach, who has built his reputation on aggressive, front‑foot football, sounded like a man who has just been handed another weapon. “Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” he said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

That courage will be central to his role. Spurs have paid elite money for a winger who can isolate full-backs, break lines and tilt tight games. De Zerbi wants his wide players to be bold, to take risks, to live on the edge of the contest. Sávio fits that brief.

And the rebuild is not stopping there. Another Manchester City forward, Omar Marmoush, is also expected to join Spurs, adding further punch to an attack already being reshaped at speed. If and when that deal goes through, he will become the club’s fifth £50m-plus signing of this window, following Sávio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.

The spending has been heavy, but it has also been targeted. Tonali to dictate. Fernandes to grow into a key role. Van Hecke to stiffen the back line. Now Sávio to stretch the pitch and break games open.

Experience has arrived too, without the transfer fee. The defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have joined on free transfers, adding proven Premier League nous and depth to De Zerbi’s options at the back. Between them and the younger, high‑cost recruits, Spurs are trying to build a squad that can compete immediately and still evolve.

Money, talent, a high‑profile coach and a clear attacking identity: the pieces are being laid down. The question now is simple – can this new‑look Tottenham turn an ambitious window into a season that finally delivers silverware?
