Toby Collyer Chooses West Brom Over Hull for Permanent Move

Toby Collyer has chosen West Brom over Hull, with the Manchester United midfielder set for a permanent move to the Hawthorns after a tug-of-war between the two Championship clubs.

United have agreed an initial £3m fee for the 22-year-old, a deal that could eventually rise to £7.6m once add-ons are triggered. The Old Trafford club have also secured a hefty 40% sell-on clause, a clear sign they still believe there is significant value in the player’s future.

Collyer’s decision ends weeks of uncertainty. He spent time on loan at both West Brom and Hull during the 2025/26 campaign, weighing up which club offered the best platform for the next stage of his career. At one stage, West Brom looked in pole position. Then Hull surged ahead in the chase.

James Morrison changed that.

The West Brom boss is understood to have played a key role in convincing Collyer to return to the Midlands. Although injuries restricted the midfielder’s appearances in his first spell at the Hawthorns, he did enough in the first half of last season to impress Morrison and the Baggies staff.

That faith has now been turned into a firm commitment.

For Collyer, the promise of greater minutes on the pitch was crucial. The prospect of a bigger role in Morrison’s plans, rather than fighting for a place elsewhere, is believed to have tipped the balance and pushed him back towards West Brom.
