Stoke City Sign Justin Devenny to Boost Promotion Hopes

Stoke City have landed midfielder Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace on a four-year deal, making him their tenth signing of a busy summer window.

Devenny, 22, arrives with serious pedigree for his age. Across three seasons at Crystal Palace he made 60 appearances and scored four goals, but his value runs deeper than raw numbers. For the Northern Ireland international, the move is about aligning ambitions.

“A big part of the reason for me joining is that the ambitions of the club match mine, and that's to ultimately get back into the Premier League,” he told the club’s website. “That's the goal, and it's what we want and it's what the fans want as well. With the size of the club, that's what we need to aim to be.”

That message fits neatly with Stoke’s aggressive rebuild. Ten signings, one window, and a clear attempt to inject energy and depth into a squad that has drifted too long in the Championship’s middle ground.

Sporting director Jon Walters made it clear Devenny is expected to shape games, not just fill out the bench. He praised the midfielder’s “tenacious attitude” and stressed that his experience in the Premier League and Europe should raise standards inside the dressing room.

“Devenny gives us versatility and further competition within the squad, which was important to us as we looked to strengthen over the summer,” Walters said. “With the 10 new signings we have made over the window, we feel we have added both quality and depth across the squad.

“We believe we now have a group capable of having a successful season, but we know the relentless hard work must continue throughout the club if we are going to achieve what we want to.”
