Serhou Guirassy Reaches 100 Games for Dortmund
Serhou Guirassy walked off the pitch almost surprised by his own milestone.
"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," said the 30-year-old forward, who arrived from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024. The number crept up on him. The impact certainly didn’t.
One hundred competitive matches in just over two years tell a clear story: Guirassy has hardly missed a beat. His durability has matched his deadliness. Game after game, he has carried the workload up front and still finished with ruthless precision.
The latest chapter came in the 3-2 home win against Villarreal CF. Under the lights, in a tight contest, Guirassy struck twice, taking his tally to 63 and then 64 goals in a BVB shirt. The net bulged, the Südtribüne roared, and another record line was quietly rewritten.
Only one man has ever started faster in Dortmund colours: Erling Haaland. The Norwegian phenomenon racked up an astonishing 86 goals in 89 competitive appearances for the Black & Yellow, a benchmark that still towers over everyone else. Guirassy now sits in that slipstream, the closest of chasers.
His numbers also echo a name from Dortmund’s past. Lothar Emmerich, a club legend of a very different era, scored 64 times in his first 100 Bundesliga matches for Borussia Dortmund. Guirassy has matched that figure across all competitions in his first century of games, tying modern efficiency to historic company.
And in the Champions League pecking order, there is only one BVB attacker still standing in front of him: Marco Reus.
