PSG Pursues Jonathan David as Juventus Push for Exit
Paris Saint-Germain’s search for extra firepower has taken a familiar turn, with the French champions now exploring a move for Juventus forward Jonathan David.
The twist? Juventus want him out. David doesn’t want to go.
Out of Spalletti’s plans
Juventus have made their position clear. The club have informed David he needs to leave this window if he wants regular football, with the striker no longer part of Luciano Spalletti’s plans.
He has had chances. Plenty of them. But the coaching staff are convinced he has not shown enough to justify a role in the team, and the Bianconeri are ready to cut ties and bring in a new attacker they trust to deliver.
David, though, is digging in. The Canadian remains determined to stay in Turin and fight for his place, despite the message from above that the battle is already lost.
So the standoff continues.
PSG step into the picture
Across the Alps, PSG are reshaping their attack and see an opportunity. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Ligue 1 side have registered an interest in David, who would tick several boxes for the French champions.
There is also a key link: Luis Campos.
The PSG director worked closely with David at Lille, overseeing a spell that helped launch the striker onto the European stage. Campos knows his qualities, his mentality, and believes he could slot into Luis Enrique’s squad and system.
That past relationship could prove crucial if talks advance, offering PSG a direct line to a player who has so far shown little appetite for leaving one of Europe’s top leagues.
Wages stand in the way
But the deal is far from straightforward.
PSG are wary of David’s salary demands. The report claims the French club consider his current wages too high, a concern that could kill the move before it truly gets going.
If PSG walk away, Juventus are left right where they started: a striker they want to move on, and a player unwilling to budge.
For the Bianconeri, it is more than a squad-management issue. They need space on the wage bill and in the dressing room to bring in another forward before the window shuts. Every day without a solution tightens the squeeze.
A transfer window stalemate
On paper, PSG offer David an appealing escape route: a return to France, a reunion with Campos, and a place in one of Europe’s most star-studded squads.
On the balance sheet, his pay packet threatens to block the path.
So Juventus wait. PSG hesitate. And David, for now, clings to his Juventus fight, even as the club signal they are ready to move on without him.
Something has to give before the window closes. The question is who blinks first.
