Premier League Transfer Window 2026: Key Dates and Big Moves
The Premier League is only just back in full swing, but the market hasn’t slowed for a second. Early results are already sharpening opinions in boardrooms, pushing clubs to move faster, spend bigger and clear the decks where they can.
More than £2.5bn has gone out the door in transfer fees this summer, a staggering outlay even by English football’s standards. At the top of that pile sits Morgan Rogers, whose £117m move stands as the biggest deal of the window so far. Just behind him, Elliott Anderson’s £116m switch to Man City underlines the champions’ refusal to stand still, while Sandro Tonali’s £100m move to Tottenham signals a serious attempt to muscle into the title conversation.
And this might not be the end of the spending. Liverpool are actively chasing a marquee winger, with Bradley Barcola high on their list and links to the PSG wide man refusing to fade. Arsenal are in that conversation too, ready to pounce if the numbers and timing line up. With squads still taking shape, one late deal could tilt the balance of the season.
Premier League summer 2026 deadline
In England, the summer transfer window opened on Monday 15 June. The final whistle for deals will sound on Tuesday 1 September at 11pm BST.
There is a small safety net. Clubs get a two-hour grace period after the deadline to lodge all the necessary paperwork, a window that has saved more than one big move in recent years.
Scotland’s 2026 summer window
North of the border, the Scottish window mirrors the start date. It also opened on 15 June, but stays open a little longer.
Scottish clubs can trade until 3 September, with business closing at 5pm BST. That gives them two extra days beyond the Premier League to react to late English deals and loan opportunities.
2026 WSL summer window
The Women’s Super League has its own rhythm. The WSL summer window opened on Tuesday 16 June and runs through to Thursday 3 September.
Clubs in the women’s top flight have until 11pm BST that night to finalise their squads, a late cut-off that could invite drama as coaches look to fine-tune title and European pushes.
Deadlines across Europe
England is not operating in isolation. The rest of Europe is working to its own cut-off points, which always shape the final days of the market.
In Spain, LaLiga clubs must complete their business by 10.59pm on 1 September. In Germany, the Bundesliga shuts earlier, with a 7pm deadline on 31 August that often triggers a flurry of activity before English clubs even reach their final day.
Serie A sides in Italy have until 1 September as well, but their window closes at 8pm. Those differing end times can open the door to late cross-border moves or slam it shut on them in an instant.
Winter window on the horizon
Attention will soon turn to the mid-season reset. In England, the winter transfer window opens on 1 January 2027 and closes on 1 February at 11pm GMT, offering managers a month to fix what the autumn has exposed.
Scotland will start slightly later again. The window there opens on 5 January and runs until 4 February, closing at 5pm GMT.
In the WSL, clubs can retool from 4 January, with the window also shutting on 4 February. By then, the league picture will be clearer, the pressure even greater and every signing judged on whether it can change a season, not just a squad.
