Porto and Roma Clash Over Rodrigo Mora Transfer Terms
Negotiations between Porto and Roma for Rodrigo Mora have hit a wall, with the Portuguese club walking away from talks after a hard-line stance on the financial package for the young forward.
The two clubs clashed over the structure of the deal rather than the player’s value alone. Porto set out a demanding formula: a €10 million loan fee, a €40 million option to buy, clauses that could quickly turn that option into an obligation, performance-related bonuses, and a percentage of any future resale.
Roma pushed back. The Giallorossi refused to accept those conditions, judging the overall commitment too heavy, especially with the obligation to buy lurking behind seemingly flexible clauses. That rejection prompted Porto to break off negotiations yesterday morning, according to Portuguese outlet Ojogo.
Tension has risen between the clubs, but the move is not dead. Not yet.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes has stepped in as mediator, trying to keep the operation alive, though there were no direct contacts between Porto and Roma on the day talks stalled. For now, the deal sits in limbo, waiting for one side to blink.
Roma are boxed into a clear dilemma. Either they accept Porto’s framework as it stands, or they come back with an improved proposal on the obligation to buy that satisfies the Dragoes’ demands.
The numbers are on the table. The stance is clear. The next move belongs to Roma.
