Paris FC Targets Jonathan David as Immobile Replacement

Paris FC have moved into the race for Juventus forward Jonathan David, with the Canada international pushed towards the exit in Turin after a difficult first season, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

David arrived at Juve from Lille OSC on a free transfer last summer, billed as a smart, low‑risk signing with high upside. It never really caught fire. Game time stuttered, confidence dipped, and under Luciano Spalletti the 26-year-old has slid down the pecking order to the point where the club are now ready to move him on.

That has alerted Paris FC, who suddenly find themselves light in attack. Willem Geubbels was sold earlier in the summer and replaced by Lassine Sinayoko, a move that initially looked like a straightforward refresh of Liam Rosenior’s forward line.

Then came the shock.

Ciro Immobile, expected to squeeze out at least one more season, walked into the dressing room last month and told his teammates he would be retiring imminently. A leader, a reference point, gone in a single announcement. The club’s attacking plan for the season had to be rewritten on the spot.

Rosenior and Paris FC now want one more weapon up front. David has emerged as a leading candidate, his profile ticking several boxes: age, experience in Europe’s top leagues, and the potential to rediscover the sharp, penalty-box instincts that once made him one of Ligue 1’s most coveted forwards.

The path to his signature, though, is anything but clear.

Atlético Madrid are also in the frame, providing serious competition. A move to La Liga, under a club with Champions League ambitions, offers a very different project to Paris FC’s. For David, it shapes up as a pivotal choice: become the focal point of a rebuilding attack in Paris, or fight for a role in Diego Simeone’s demanding set-up in Madrid.

Juventus, Spalletti and David all seem ready for a clean break. The question now is simple: who convinces him that their project can relaunch his career?
