Omar Marmoush on Tottenham's Potential Amidst Struggles

Omar Marmoush has barely unpacked his bags in north London, but he is already talking like a man who believes Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of something bigger than their league position suggests.

On the eve of Spurs’ home clash with Everton in the fourth round of the Premier League, the Egyptian forward struck a notably upbeat tone, pushing back against the gloom of a winless start.

Tottenham sit 17th with just a single point. Everton arrive in eighth, on five points and with early-season confidence. The table paints one story. Marmoush is determined to write another.

“It has only been a few weeks since I arrived here, but the overall impression is absolutely wonderful,” he told British newspaper Straits Times, a clear hint that the mood inside the camp is far brighter than the standings show.

De Zerbi’s passion and a new Spurs identity

Marmoush’s early days in London have been shaped by one man: Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian has been tasked with dragging Spurs into a new era, and his intensity has clearly made an impact on his new striker.

“He has great passion, and we are trying to grasp what he asks of us and apply it on the pitch in the best possible way, and things are going excellently so far,” Marmoush said.

That word – passion – matters. Tottenham’s start has been flat on paper: a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle and a goalless draw away at Nottingham Forest, both of which featured Marmoush in a Spurs shirt. Yet inside the dressing room, the message is that the ideas are landing, the structure is forming, and the results will follow.

Early steps, big ambitions

For now, Marmoush’s Spurs career is only two games old. He came on in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle, then played again in the stalemate at Forest. No goals yet, no breakthrough moment, but no hint of doubt either.

“We hope to achieve victories, and as a new player who joined the team alongside other players, the harmony will begin to grow once we spend more time together, and I believe the results will be wonderful,” he said, leaning into the long view rather than the league table.

Tottenham fans have heard promises before. What they have not yet seen this season is lift-off. Everton at home, with the visitors riding higher and Spurs under pressure, is exactly the sort of fixture that can tilt a campaign.

Marmoush has made his prediction. Now he has to help deliver it.
