Omar Marmoush Set to Join Tottenham Hotspur
Omar Marmoush is on the brink of swapping Manchester blue for north London white, with his move to Tottenham Hotspur now in its final stretch.
The Egypt international said his goodbyes at Manchester City today after receiving permission to undergo a medical at Spurs, a key step before the deal is officially sealed.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Marmoush is preparing for those tests ahead of completing a switch that would see him join Tottenham on loan with an obligation to buy. The total package is substantial: £50 million guaranteed, plus £10 million in add-ons, £5 million of which are certain.
It is a commitment that underlines how seriously Spurs view the 25-year-old. Marmoush is expected to sign a four-year contract, with an option for a fifth. Eintracht Frankfurt, the club that sold him to City, will not receive a percentage of any future resale, a notable detail in a market where sell-on clauses have become standard.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has echoed Ornstein’s information, stating that Marmoush is set to sign for Tottenham on Thursday, pending the completion of his medical and final paperwork. The move caps weeks of noise around his future, with the striker pushing for a club that can offer him a bigger role and more consistent minutes.
City gave him a platform; they never truly gave him a run.
Marmoush arrived at the Etihad from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, riding the momentum of a prolific spell in the Bundesliga that earned him a shot at the Premier League. The step up in competition inside City’s attack, though, proved unforgiving. He finished last season with eight goals in all competitions but started only 16 matches, a return that sharpened his determination to leave in search of regular football.
That frustration opened a door Tottenham were ready to charge through.
Spurs moved hard for Marmoush while simultaneously negotiating with City for Brazilian winger Savinho. They wrapped up the Savinho deal first, agreeing a £75 million fee plus £10 million in add-ons, but never took their eyes off the Egyptian. English reports had already outlined the framework: a loan with a £50 million buy clause that becomes mandatory once certain conditions are triggered.
In recent days, talks accelerated. The structure is now clear, the figures agreed, the path laid out. All that stands between Marmoush and a new home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a successful medical and a signature.
His arrival would be another piece in a sweeping rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi. Tottenham have already spent more than £300 million this summer after last season’s grim 17th-place finish in the Premier League, a campaign that forced the club to confront the scale of the overhaul required.
De Zerbi wants a sharper, more varied attack. Spurs have stuttered at the start of this season, lacking both cutting edge and depth in the final third. Marmoush, with his mobility, direct running, and eye for goal, is being brought in to change that picture.
