Nottingham Forest Break Transfer Record for Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest have smashed their transfer record to land Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal that could rise to £50m.

Forest have agreed to pay at least £45m for the striker, with performance-related add-ons taking the package up to the £50m mark. Delap is due to undergo a medical on Wednesday as the move edges towards completion.

The 21-year-old had been on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Everton, but Forest have pushed hardest and fastest to get the deal over the line, making him the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Chelsea only brought Delap in last summer from Ipswich Town for £30m and had set a valuation of around £50m heading into this window. After a season in which he scored two goals in 41 appearances, the London club have still banked a £15m profit.

Forest’s hierarchy have now gone beyond the £37.5m they paid Ipswich for Omari Hutchison in August 2025, underlining the scale of their investment in Delap and their determination to reshape the attack.
