Neymar's Family Company Clears Debt, Lifts Santos' FIFA Transfer Ban

Santos FC have ended their FIFA transfer ban thanks to a financial intervention from Neymar's family company, NR Sports. The agency paid off an outstanding £1.7 million debt owed to Monaco related to midfielder Jean Lucas, allowing the Brazilian club to resume signing players.

Debt Resolution Details

The transfer embargo had blocked Santos' ability to register new signings since July due to the unpaid R$12 million (£1.7m/$2.3m) amount to Monaco. This payment cleared the way for Santos to participate in the transfer market again. In exchange, Santos FC and NR Sports agreed to jointly manage and commercialise unsold kit sponsorship spaces.

Official Confirmation

The club confirmed the resolution in an official statement released on Thursday:

Santos FC have settled the Transfer Ban and are once again clear to operate in the transfer market. The operation was made possible thanks to the support of NR Sports, through which the Club received an immediate financial injection. In return, Santos FC and the company will jointly negotiate kit sponsorship inventory that has not yet been commercialised.

Plans for New Signings

With the embargo lifted, Santos is moving swiftly to strengthen its squad amid concerns over relegation. The club is working to sign former Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, identified as the top target to add creativity and depth. This move aims to improve their chances of climbing out of the relegation zone in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Upcoming Challenges

This weekend, Santos faces a critical match against Corinthians, holding only a two-point lead above the relegation zone. Neymar is expected back in the starting lineup after missing the Copa do Brasil quarter-final first leg, where Santos lost 3-0 to Palmeiras. Their focus remains on overturning that deficit while securing vital league points against a side led by Memphis Depay.
