Milan Targets Ruben Dias: Ambitious Transfer Plans

Milan eye ambitious move for Ruben Dias – but deal looks distant

Ruben Amorim wants a defender. Milan know they need one. And now one of the biggest names in the position has landed on their list: Ruben Dias.

The Rossoneri have been working closely with super-agent Jorge Mendes throughout the summer, and that relationship has opened a bold line of thinking. Mendes was in Milan recently for talks covering several topics with the club hierarchy and Amorim’s camp. Out of those conversations came a striking idea – asking about the availability of Manchester City’s defensive leader.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, initial contacts have already taken place, understood to be with Mendes himself, over a possible move for the Portugal international. Dias is now firmly on Milan’s radar.

From a profile standpoint, the fit is obvious. At 29, Dias is in what many clubs view as peak age for a centre-back. Milan are also alert to how his market value has dipped over the last two seasons, with injuries disrupting his rhythm and slightly dulling the shine of a player once considered untouchable at City. The Italian side see an opportunity in that decline in stock.

There is another key link: Mendes represents Dias as well. The agent’s dual role connects all the dots and explains how such a high-end option even enters the conversation for Milan.

Then reality bites.

A deal of this magnitude looks extremely complicated. Manchester City have already lost Rodri this summer and are in no mood to let another cornerstone of their spine walk out the door. From the English champions’ perspective, weakening the squad further, and particularly in the heart of defence, makes little sense.

The financial side is just as daunting. Even with Dias’ value not at its peak, the total package – fee, wages, and the stature of the player – would stretch Milan to their limits. For a club that has tried to operate with discipline in recent windows, this would be a huge swing.

So the idea is there, the lines of communication are open, and the agent is perfectly placed. But right now, Ruben Dias to Milan feels more like a daring dream than an imminent Serie A transfer.
