Manchester City Signs Allan Elias from Palmeiras for £34.2m

Manchester City have landed their latest Brazilian flyer, sealing a deal for Palmeiras winger Allan Elias worth up to £34.2m.

The Premier League champions have paid an initial £32m, with a further £2.2m in performance-related add-ons, handing the 22-year-old a five-year contract and a direct pathway into Enzo Maresca’s remodelled front line.

Allan in, Savio out

Allan arrives as a straight swap in profile, if not in price, for compatriot Savio, who joined Tottenham Hotspur for £75m last week. City lose one right-sided winger and immediately plug the gap with another – younger, cheaper, and with clear upside.

A product of Palmeiras’ academy, Allan broke through in São Paulo and went on to make 96 appearances for the Brazilian giants in all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying 12 assists. Those numbers only tell part of the story: he leaves as a homegrown talent who climbed every rung of the club’s system before taking the leap to Europe.

For Allan, the move is the culmination of a dream.

“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” he said.

“To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

“I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.”

Maresca’s expensive rebuild

Allan’s arrival continues a relentless summer of churn under Maresca. City have already spent over £230m in this window alone, reshaping a squad that has dominated English football but now bears the clear imprint of a new head coach.

The headline outlay remains the £116m deal for Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, a statement signing for midfield and attack. Ayyoub Bouaddi’s £85.6m switch from Lille added further dynamism and depth, and Allan now joins that wave of fresh faces tasked with driving the next cycle.

City, though, are far from done. Talks are ongoing with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, while Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is firmly on their radar as they look to reinforce both creativity and control.

Big sales, bigger expectations

The heavy spending has been offset – and then some – by a ruthless approach to sales. City have already brought in over £286m in outgoing transfers, underlining their status as one of the most efficient operators in the market.

The most striking departure is Rodri, the 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner, who has joined Barcelona in a £65m deal. His exit rips out a central pillar of City’s recent success and hands Maresca an immediate tactical puzzle to solve.

Tijani Reijnders has also moved on, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m, another sizeable fee that reinforces City’s financial muscle and flexibility as they reshape the squad.

So Allan steps into a club in transition but not in decline – one that spends big, sells big, and still expects to win everything in sight.
