PSG Transfer Window Remains Active, Says Luis Campos
Paris Saint-Germain sports advisor Luis Campos has stated that the club's transfer window is still open as the September 1 deadline approaches. The Ligue 1 champions continue to consider both incoming and outgoing moves, especially with Liverpool showing interest in attackers Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
Campos Issues Market Update
Speaking to the media, Campos emphasized that PSG’s business is ongoing and that the club will pursue any good opportunities before the window closes. He referenced last year’s late signing of Gigio Donnarumma, which was finalized after the deadline.
"The transfer window is far from over, it’s still open. Between now and the end, on the arrivals side, if we find a good opportunity, we’ll take it. It’s like that every year. I remind you what happened last year with Gigio Donnarumma, it was really late," Campos told Ligue 1+.
Liverpool Eyes PSG’s Young Attackers
The Premier League side is targeting both Barcola and 18-year-old Mbaye to strengthen their attacking options. Barcola had a breakthrough season in Paris, becoming one of Europe’s most exciting wide forwards. Meanwhile, Mbaye has impressed through PSG’s academy, attracting attention from multiple Premier League clubs looking for long-term talent.
Neither player was included in PSG’s squad for the Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, which ended 2-2, nor were they part of the teams for the Trophée des Champions loss to Lens or the UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa earlier.
PSG Resists Pressure to Sell
Despite ongoing rumors of Liverpool’s pursuit, PSG remains firm on keeping Barcola and Mbaye. Coach Luis Enrique considers Barcola important for his plans, and the club views Mbaye as a key future prospect. Campos was noncommittal when questioned about their futures:
"You mentioned (Bradley) Barcola and (Ibrahim) Mbaye, we’ll see what happens."
Negotiations with Liverpool continue after PSG rejected an initial offer for Barcola. Another bid is expected, while talks over Mbaye are also in progress. PSG reportedly wants around €70 million for the Senegalese winger, a price Liverpool is not ready to meet.
Next Steps for PSG
PSG will focus on improving their early-season performances while managing their transfer dealings. In Barcola’s absence, the team lost the French Super Cup to Lens and drew 2-2 with Rennes in their Ligue 1 opener. Their next league match is against Lille on August 28.
With Campos leading the transfer strategy, PSG looks set to stay active and resist Liverpool’s attempts to sign Barcola and Mbaye before the window shuts on September 1.
