According to L'Équipe, talks between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have stalled, with the Premier League side unwilling to go anywhere near PSG’s current demand of around £145m for the French international. Barcola, 23, has been marked out by the Anfield hierarchy as their priority attacking target, yet the gap between valuation and offer remains huge.

PSG are holding firm. Liverpool are refusing to blink.

The forward, who came through at Lyon before moving to the French capital, is not inclined to sign a new deal at the Parc des Princes and would be open to a switch to Merseyside. That stance gives Liverpool a sliver of leverage in a market where elite forwards rarely come cheap and even more rarely come available.
