Liverpool Closing in on Bradley Barcola Transfer

Liverpool are closing in on a blockbuster move for Bradley Barcola – and Cody Gakpo’s future suddenly looks wide open.

Barcola to Liverpool: ‘Here we go’

After weeks of negotiation, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have finally reached an agreement in principle for Barcola, with Fabrizio Romano delivering his trademark “here we go” on the deal.

The winger, long identified as Liverpool’s top target for the left side, is set to move for a guaranteed £100m fee. PSG sources, Romano reports, expect the package to rise to around €140m once add-ons are included.

The paperwork is now being drawn up, exchanged and checked by the lawyers. Once that process is complete, Barcola will be cleared to travel for his medical and sign his contract at Anfield.

Liverpool have tracked the France international for a long time and originally had him in their plans for summer 2025. The chance to strike now proved too good to ignore.

There had been strong noise from both England and France at various points that Barcola would not be leaving PSG, with some reports even suggesting a €170m price tag. Romano, though, consistently maintained that Liverpool’s pursuit was alive and that such a figure would not be the final number.

Now, all sides are satisfied. Liverpool get a winger they regard as one of the best in the world. Barcola gets the move he wanted. PSG get a huge fee. As Romano put it, everyone is happy and the Barcola saga is effectively closed.

Spotlight turns to Gakpo

Once the Barcola deal dropped, attention immediately swung to what it means for Cody Gakpo.

The Dutchman has been the subject of persistent speculation, with Tottenham and Manchester City both circling. According to Romano, Spurs already have an agreement in place with Gakpo, while his representatives are also in talks with City as they explore their options.

Liverpool, aware of the possibility of losing Gakpo, have not stood still. They have already seen bids rejected for Yankuba Minteh and have made enquiries about Ismaila Sarr as they weigh up alternatives on the wing.

The next steps are clear enough. If Gakpo leaves for Tottenham or Manchester City, Liverpool are expected to push for a second winger on top of Barcola. If he stays, the club are prepared to go into the season with their current attacking group, bolstered by their new marquee arrival.

For now, everything hinges on one decision: does Cody Gakpo walk through the exit door and trigger the next move in Liverpool’s reshaping of their forward line?
