“No one from Liverpool FC has contacted us about renewing his contract yet,” he said.
“We have a valid contract and we are committed to it with Liverpool, and if the club does not offer to renew the contract, that is their right. At the moment, Alexis must give his best for the club in every game during the weekend.
“Alexis is not disappointed. This is a decision made by the club, and we do not judge their decisions, we just prepare for what is to come.”
The message is clear: Liverpool hold the power, Mac Allister will keep his head down and play, and any talk of a pay rise or extension will have to wait.
Real Madrid rumours shut down
Mac Allister’s fluctuating form in the recent past had fuelled speculation about his future. When his performances dipped, the rumour mill kicked into overdrive. One club kept cropping up: Real Madrid.
For months, whispers suggested the Spanish giants were tracking him, that a move to the Bernabéu might be the next logical step in his career. It fitted the usual pattern: a technically gifted midfielder, a World Cup winner, links to Madrid almost felt inevitable.
Carlos Mac Allister has now cut through that narrative as well.
In the same interview with 365Scores, he insisted that Real Madrid have never made contact at any point.
“No one from Real Madrid contacted us at any time throughout Alexis’ career,” he revealed.
So the story is simpler than the gossip suggested. No tug-of-war with Madrid. No behind-the-scenes manoeuvring. Liverpool chose to keep Mac Allister when they were offered chances to bring in specialist number sixes, and despite fans questioning that decision at the time, it has started to pay off on the pitch.
The club’s stance off it, though, is more intriguing. A key midfielder, back to his best, tied down until 2028 but with no fresh offer on the table and no giants circling in the background. Liverpool are gambling that time is on their side.
