Ligue 1 Predictions Round 2: PSG Faces Lille OSC

The predictions battle is back. GFFN editor-in-chief Luke Entwistle and sub-editor Bastien Cheval have resumed hostilities for the 2026/27 Ligue 1 campaign, and after just one round, there’s already a gap.

Luke edges it so far with 5 points. Bastien trails on 3. It’s early, but the tone is set.

Scoring remains ruthless:

  • 3 points for the exact score
  • 2 points for the right goal difference
  • 1 point for the correct result

Over nine months, those margins will sting.

Game of the Week: Lille OSC v Paris Saint-Germain

Friday, 19:45 (UK)

What a difference seven days can make. Or at least, that’s what Paris Saint-Germain are banking on.

Luis Enrique’s side stumbled out of the blocks last Friday, held by Stade Rennais and rescued only by a second-half brace from Ferran Torres. The Spaniard dragged PSG to a point, masking a performance that still screamed “pre-season” in too many moments.

That pre-season, once again, was chopped short. Rust was inevitable. The level of the opposition didn’t help either, and now PSG walk straight into another storm: a trip north to face Lille OSC, one of the sides with genuine designs on the Champions League places.

This is no gentle easing into the campaign. It’s another high-wire act away from home.

PSG arrive without Ousmane Dembélé, a major creative outlet stripped from Enrique’s attack. Lille, though, have their own headache. Matias Fernandez-Pardo will not feature while his transfer saga rumbles on. A key piece of their puzzle is missing, and everyone at the club knows it. He leaves a void.

Ayoubb Bouaddi has already departed, but that exit was expected and Lille have emotionally moved on from it. Under Davide Ancelotti, they have started to sketch out a new identity.

The opening weekend offered a glimpse. Lille eased past SCO Angers 2-0 without ever needing to hit top gear. Efficient, controlled, calm. That won’t be enough this time.

This is a different stage. A different kind of pressure. For Ancelotti Jr., this is the biggest examination of his young coaching career. How he navigates it will say plenty about Lille’s ceiling this season.

Luke Entwistle’s Ligue 1 Predictions

  • Lille 1-2 PSG
  • Strasbourg 1-3 Lens
  • Auxerre 1-0 Angers
  • Brest 0-1 Toulouse
  • Lyon 2-1 Le Havre
  • Lorient 0-0 Troyes
  • Paris FC 1-0 Nice
  • Rennes 4-0 Le Mans
  • Monaco 2-0 Marseille

Bastien Cheval’s Ligue 1 Predictions

  • Lille 1-2 PSG
  • Strasbourg 1-3 Lens
  • Auxerre 0-0 Angers
  • Brest 1-0 Toulouse
  • Lorient 1-0 Troyes
  • Lyon 2-1 Le Havre
  • Paris FC 0-1 Nice
  • Rennes 3-1 Le Mans
  • Monaco 2-2 Marseille

They agree on the headline: PSG to edge it in Lille. They split on the chaos elsewhere. With only two points between them after Round 1, every exact score this weekend could swing the narrative of a prediction duel that will run, twist, and probably explode long before May.
