Khiara Keating Joins Liverpool FC Women on Permanent Deal

Liverpool FC Women have underlined their ambition with the signing of goalkeeper Khiara Keating, prising one of the most highly regarded young stoppers in the country away from Manchester City on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old arrives at the end of her City contract, a free transfer that feels anything but cheap in footballing terms. Keating already carries the weight of serious experience for her age, having made her senior debut at just 17 and grown up inside the demanding environment of the City academy.

This is not a leap into the unknown for her. It is a reunion.

Keating links back up with head coach Gareth Taylor, with whom she previously worked during her time at City. That familiarity matters. Taylor knows exactly what kind of character he is bringing into the dressing room, and Keating knows the standards he will demand from the first day at Melwood.

She becomes Liverpool’s fourth new recruit of the summer, a window that is starting to look like a calculated reset rather than routine squad maintenance. A new spine is emerging, and Keating is being asked to anchor it from the back.

Her pedigree is clear. A product of City’s academy system, she has been earmarked for the top since her teenage years and has already broken into the international scene. Keating has represented England at youth level and stepped up to the senior Lionesses, making her debut in October 2025.

For Liverpool, this is more than a depth signing. It is a statement that the club intends to grow with a goalkeeper whose best years are still ahead of her – and who already knows what it takes to live at the sharp end of elite football.
