Jadon Sancho Weighs Premier League Return Amid Dortmund Interest
Jadon Sancho’s next move is back on the boil – and England is firmly on the table again.
Two unnamed Premier League clubs have opened talks over bringing the winger back to the top flight, with discussions ongoing between their hierarchies and Sancho’s representatives as he considers his options for the season ahead, according to TeamTalk.
Sancho is a free agent after his Manchester United contract ran down, which means the closure of the transfer window a week ago hasn’t shut the door on a move. For him, the market is still open.
Villa spell that never caught fire
His most recent audition in English football did little to settle the debate about where he belongs.
Sancho spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Aston Villa, the final year of his United deal, but never truly convinced Unai Emery he was a guaranteed starter. Across the season he managed just nine Premier League starts and failed to score in any of his 23 league appearances.
For a player once viewed as one of Europe’s most incisive attacking talents, those numbers told their own story. Villa, even while sanctioning major attacking exits such as Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, chose not to push for a permanent deal. No great shock there.
So Sancho heads into the autumn without a club, his stock lower than at any point since he first broke through in Germany, but with one card still very much in his hand: his body of work at Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund door creaks open again
It wouldn’t feel like a transfer window without Sancho’s name circling back to the Westfalenstadion. This summer has been no different.
Dortmund initially decided against a move, preferring to look elsewhere as they reshaped their attack. That stance may now be under strain. A long-term injury to new signing Giannis Konstantelias has left the Bundesliga side short in forward areas and forced them to reassess the free-agent market.
On that list, Sancho is impossible to ignore. Across his two spells in yellow and black, he delivered 53 goals and 67 assists in 158 games – elite output that helped launch his career and secure his big-money switch to Manchester United.
A return to Dortmund would drop him straight back into the Champions League this season and into a familiar environment where he has already proved he can thrive. The demands are fierce, but the surroundings are known, the expectations clear, and the system historically tailored to his strengths.
So the decision now looms: a fresh crack at the Premier League with new colours, or another reunion with the club that saw the best of him.
