Ireland–Israel UEFA Nations League Matches: Minimal Coverage

RTÉ will broadcast the Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League double-header against Israel, but viewers will get the most stripped-back coverage the national broadcaster can legally provide.

Ireland face Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, on 27 September in what is officially the ‘away’ fixture, before the ‘home’ game is played in Backa Topola, Serbia, on 4 October.

RTÉ is obligated under its contract to show both matches. It will do so without the usual trimmings. No studio. No panel. No RTÉ commentary.

Instead, the pictures and commentary will come directly from the international feed, with only a minimal technical crew on RTÉ’s side to make sure the games go to air.

There will be no advertising or sponsorship taken around either fixture.

RTÉ will still cover the matches and the wider situation around them in its news output, but for live coverage, viewers will be watching Ireland in Nations League action in as bare a broadcast as they are likely to see all season.
