The 25-year-old, once tipped as a long-term Premier League regular, has slipped down the pecking order at Spurs under Roberto De Zerbi despite his strong standing with England after a standout World Cup. Now, with his route to the first team blocked, Italy is calling again.

The move underlines the Nerazzurri’s intent to bring the former Nottingham Forest standout back to Serie A, where he previously enjoyed a loan spell with Genoa.
