Inter Milan Nears £30m Transfer for Curtis Jones
Inter Milan are moving to the brink of a deal for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones in a transfer expected to be worth around 35m euros (£30m).
Liverpool knocked back a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) in June, making it clear they valued the 25-year-old closer to £35m, despite the fact he has just one year left on his contract. That stance has dragged Inter back to the table with a far stronger proposal.
This time, the numbers look right.
A package in the region of £30m is now understood to be enough to bring the clubs to an agreement, with sources in Italy suggesting a verbal deal is already in place. Both clubs, though, are still working through the finer details before anything is signed off.
Liverpool are prepared to sell and want a figure in line with the £30m Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence. That move has set a clear benchmark and Liverpool have been firm about not dipping below it.
Inter’s interest is not new. The Serie A champions tried to prise Jones away in January, pushing for an initial loan with an option to buy. Liverpool dismissed that idea, unwilling to lose him on the cheap midway through the season.
Jones has been part of the Liverpool first-team picture since his breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp in 2019, amassing 228 appearances for the club. Last season he featured 49 times in all competitions, but only started 18 Premier League games and never fully nailed down a permanent role in Arne Slot’s midfield.
Now, with one year left on his deal and Inter circling with serious money, Liverpool look ready to cash in. The next move is his.
