Ferran Torres is on the runway. After Ronald Araujo, he is set to be the next major departure from Barcelona, with Paris Saint-Germain waiting at the other end.
The Spanish international, coming off a standout 2025/26 season and a starring role at the World Cup, is expected to join the French champions. Inside the club, the move is being treated as a matter of timing, not doubt. The question is no longer “if” he goes, only “when” the deal is signed.
Deal in the final stretch
According to Cadena SER, Barcelona and PSG are closing in on a full agreement, with the transfer expected to be finalised between today and tomorrow. Ferran already has an agreement in place with PSG and is ready to fly to Paris in the coming hours to complete his medical.
The signs are clear. He did not train with Barcelona on Thursday, having also been excused from Wednesday’s session, as the negotiations entered their decisive phase. PSG tied down personal terms with the forward some time ago; the last piece has been the exact structure of the fee between the clubs.
That final detail is now being hammered out around a figure of €55 million. For Barcelona, that number matters. Offloading a player with only one year left on his contract for that fee is viewed internally as strong business, even if it means saying goodbye to a World Cup final hero who had finally hit his stride.
A sale with a purpose: unlocking Rodri
Ferran’s exit is not just a departure. It is a lever.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Rodri remains one of the club’s defining operations of this window. The Catalans have already sent Manchester City a second proposal worth €60 million, combining a fixed amount with variables, after seeing an initial €50 million offer turned down.
City, according to reports, have also rejected that improved bid. The answer has been firm. Not enough.
Barcelona are not walking away. Inside the sporting department there is still confidence that a deal can be done, with a third, “definitive” offer being prepared in the region of €70 million: €60 million guaranteed, plus €10 million in add-ons.
That is where Ferran’s move to PSG becomes crucial. The income from his sale will give Barça more room to manoeuvre, both in terms of pure transfer funds and the all-important squad registration rules that have shaped their market strategy in recent years.
One big name is heading out. Barcelona’s plan is simple: use that sacrifice to bring in a marquee signing at a key position. If Ferran’s departure is the price of landing Rodri, the club’s entire summer will be judged on whether that final, ambitious push convinces Manchester City to pick up the pen.
