Ferran Torres Joins PSG from Barcelona

Ferran Torres is heading to Paris. PSG and Barcelona made it official on Saturday: the Spanish international is leaving the Camp Nou for Ligue 1 to play under Luis Enrique.

The move ends Ferran’s spell in LaLiga and closes a chapter that began in January 2022, when he arrived from City. At 26, he walks away from Barça with a substantial body of work behind him: 207 matches, 65 goals and a trophy cabinet that includes three League titles, three Super Cups and one Copa del Rey.

Barça had not planned to say goodbye so soon. His contract still had one year left, and the club’s intention was to put a renewal on the table. The plan changed when Ferran made his stance clear. Last week, he informed the Blaugrana hierarchy of his firm desire to join PSG and continue his career in Paris. From that moment, there was only one direction of travel.

The French champions moved decisively. Luis Enrique, who knows Ferran well and pushed hard for his arrival, made him a priority target. Backed by the board, PSG presented a powerful financial offer and an ambitious sporting project. Barcelona simply could not match the numbers coming out of Paris, and with the player set on the move, resistance quickly became unrealistic.

Ferran arrives in the French capital at a high point in his career. The forward who scored for Spain in the World Cup final against Argentina now looks to add fresh chapters to an already impressive résumé. His performances in recent seasons for Barça, combined with his standout World Cup showing, have boosted his market value and turned him into one of the most coveted attacking options in Europe.

Now he swaps the Camp Nou for the Parc des Princes, LaLiga for Ligue 1, and the Blaugrana shirt for PSG’s colours. The question is no longer why he left Barcelona, but how far he can go in Paris under Luis Enrique’s command.
