Cesc Fabregas has issued a clear message to the Como board just days before the summer transfer window closes, despite guiding his team to a remarkable 2-1 triumph over Napoli. The Spanish coach insists on bringing in attacking reinforcements to help his squad cope with the challenges of Serie A and their debut in the Champions League.

Demand for Forward Strengthening

The win at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona marked one of the most important in Como's recent history, with goals from Martin Baturina and Anastasios Douvikas securing the upset. Yet, Fabregas quickly made it clear that celebrations must be balanced with practical squad improvements. Playing every three days across Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Europe demands more depth, especially upfront.

Currently, talks are underway with Fiorentina regarding a potential signing of striker Moise Kean. Fabregas was direct about the urgency: "Obviously, I’m expecting a striker. Douvikas can’t handle Serie A, Coppa Italia, and the Champions League all by himself. We suffered last year when Morata was injured for months. We had to play false nine often; playing at this level so frequently is tough."

Highlighting Luis Milla’s Contribution

While focusing on new arrivals, Fabregas praised the impact of midfielder Luis Milla, 31, who joined Como this summer. Milla started his second straight game against Napoli and quickly became crucial in midfield. Fabregas feels Milla doesn’t get enough recognition in Spain, where attention favors younger talents like Pedri or Rodri.

"Milla is very underrated in Spain, but it’s normal. There are many great players, and sometimes others get overlooked. I’ve followed his career for a long time. He’s steadily improved and now deserves his chance in the Champions League. We aim to bring young players here, but I’m happy for him and others," Fabregas said.

"This win means a lot. I learned a great deal from the recent Milan game. Today, we read the match well. The first half was strong; in the second, we realized we were up against champions but held firm. The quality of Napoli’s substitutes made me think they had more changes left. It felt like being in a sauna," Fabregas reflected.

"We have an important game against Genoa next. There will be matches where opponents are better; you have to accept that. Genoa has an 80% chance of winning, we have 20%," he stated.
