European Clubs Make Moves in Summer Transfer Market
The World Cup is crawling towards its finale, but Europe’s heavyweights are already sprinting into the summer market. This is the part of the year when plans harden, agents circle and one big move has the power to reshape a season before a ball is kicked.
Right now, England’s elite are all in the thick of it.
Arsenal move fast after Trossard exit
Arsenal have wasted no time reacting to Leandro Trossard’s departure.
Christos Tzolis is close to arriving, a deal agreed as Mikel Arteta looks to refresh his attacking options. The Gunners are also preparing a bid for Morgan Rogers, pushing hard to add more versatility and end product across the front line.
But the ambition doesn’t stop there. Bruno Guimaraes remains a major target for midfield, Julian Alvarez is still firmly admired as a forward who can transform their press, and teenage prodigy Andria Bartishvili is on the radar as one for the future.
Bradley Barcola and Ezri Konsa are also being tracked. One would sharpen Arsenal’s threat out wide, the other bolster the core of a defence that ran out of steam at key moments last season. It’s a clear pattern: depth, flexibility, and players who can handle a title race.
Manchester United rip up their midfield
At Old Trafford, the rebuild is not a slogan. It’s a demolition job.
Manchester United have already brought in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for around £85m, but the churn in midfield is far from over. Manu Kone is a leading target, a France international with the legs and aggression United have lacked.
The club have now also registered interest in Hugo Larsson and Nico Raskin. Larsson, at Eintracht Frankfurt, is under contract until 2029, so prising him away will require serious money. Raskin, currently at Rangers and fresh from a strong World Cup with Belgium’s “other” Red Devils, is a more unexpected name but fits the profile of a busy, progressive midfielder.
The message is unmistakable: United are stockpiling options in the centre of the pitch, reshaping the heart of the team in one window.
Liverpool secure Szoboszlai and wait on Salah
At Liverpool, one cornerstone has been secured. Another still hangs in the air.
Dominik Szoboszlai, a standout performer in the 2025/26 campaign and now a central figure at Anfield, has agreed a huge new contract. His previous deal ran until 2028; the new extension, according to reports, stretches to 2031 and elevates him into the club’s top wage bracket. Real Madrid had been circling. That threat has been shut down.
Mohamed Salah’s future, though, is the story that refuses to settle.
The club legend left Anfield last month after nine glittering years and is now a free agent. Saudi Arabia and MLS clubs have been heavily linked. His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, broke the silence with a pointed update, saying they still do not know where Salah will play next season but expect clarity soon, stressing they will not entertain clubs he would never consider “just for the sake of noise.”
While the world waits on Salah, Liverpool’s recruitment team is already working on life after him. Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace and Brazilian winger Rayan are both in their sights, alongside long-term interest in Bradley Barcola.
Wharton has reportedly become Liverpool’s top target this window, a young England midfielder capable of dictating play and driving through lines. Rayan, currently at Bournemouth and previously coached by Andoni Iraola, is another direct wide option the new manager knows well. Victor Munoz has already arrived from Osasuna, though RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande now looks likely to head to Paris Saint-Germain.
The attack is being rebuilt on the fly. The identity of the man they are replacing still dominates the conversation.
Chelsea close in on Denner and weigh Sarr’s next step
Across London, Chelsea’s youth-first project rolls on.
The club are finally set to bring in Brazilian left-back Denner, a move agreed with Corinthians last year. Now 18 and recovering from a knee issue, he is due in west London next week for a medical before signing a contract expected to run until 2032.
He will join a squad that continues to be aggressively reshaped around potential. Jesse Derry, currently on loan at Sporting CP, has a new team-mate there, while back at Stamford Bridge, attention turns to the next wave.
Mamadou Sarr is one of the key decisions. Chelsea want the 20-year-old defender to head out on loan to a Premier League club, giving him top-flight minutes after his development at Strasbourg. Several options outside England are also on the table. Xabi Alonso, now in charge, has not ruled out keeping him and will hold talks with the former Strasbourg captain before any call is made.
The Blues are also trying to land Pep Chavarria and could yet enter the race for Manu Kone if Enzo Fernandez leaves. Denner may be the headline arrival this week, but the churn beneath the surface is constant.
Tottenham and Forest circle attacking talent
Tottenham are looking up the pitch.
Savinho, Rafael Leao and Cody Gakpo are all on their list as the club tries to add pace, power and goals to an attack that has flickered without fully convincing. Each of those names would change the dynamic of Ange Postecoglou’s forward line.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are refusing to back down in their pursuit of Lucas Bergvall. A second offer is being prepared as they look to tempt the highly rated youngster, a move that would underline Forest’s determination to keep evolving rather than merely surviving.
Villa move for Estupinan as Amorim plans at Milan
Aston Villa are not standing still either.
Unai Emery’s side have agreed personal terms with Pervis Estupinan, according to Fabrizio Romano, and are now in talks with AC Milan over a transfer fee. Estupinan is lined up as a replacement for Lucas Digne, signalling another shift in how Villa want their full-backs to operate.
That deal would have a knock-on effect in Italy. Ruben Amorim, newly installed at Milan, is eyeing a reunion with Noussair Mazraoui, having worked with him at Manchester United. Mazraoui is viewed as Estupinan’s successor in the role, a key piece in Amorim’s attempt to reshape Milan’s flanks.
A market waiting on the next domino
Clubs have started to move. Szoboszlai is locked in. Denner is on his way. Estupinan has agreed terms. Arsenal and United are ripping up their midfields. Liverpool are trying to redraw their forward line on the run.
Yet one question still hangs over the entire window.
Where will Mohamed Salah play next season?
