Djed Spence Joins Inter Milan: Key Transfer Details

Djed Spence is on the brink of a new life in Serie A, with the England international due to touch down in Italy tonight ahead of a big-money move to Inter.

After days of hard bargaining, Tottenham and Inter finally closed the deal this week: a €31.5m fixed fee, rising to €35m with bonuses. Tucked inside the agreement is another detail that will please Spurs’ accountants – a 10 per cent cut of any future sale.

Bags Packed, Milan Next

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spence has already packed up and is expected in Milan this evening. From the airport, it will be straight into the familiar routine of a transfer on the verge of completion: hotel, rest, then a crucial Friday of medical checks.

Those tests will come in two stages. First with Inter’s own medical staff, then with specialists from CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee, who must also give the green light before any contract is finalised.

If everything goes to plan, Spence will then sign a five-year deal. The contract is believed to be worth around €2.6m per season, with performance-related bonuses on top that could reward a fast adaptation to Italian football.

A Number With History

One detail already seems decided. Spence is expected to take the Number 24 shirt at Inter, a jersey previously worn by another former Tottenham player in Milan, Christian Eriksen.

For Spurs, it marks the end of a long negotiation and the start of a potential future windfall. For Inter, it is a significant investment in a modern full-back entering his prime. For Spence, the next chapter starts the moment he steps off the plane in Milan tonight.
